Carrier Transicold [R]eCool

Carrier Transicold today launched [R]eCool, a 38.5-kWh battery system for trailer transport refrigeration units (TRUs) designed to serve as a lifecycle energy solution - powering electric or hybrid TRUs in fleets, then transferring across vehicles and ultimately finding a second life in stationary energy applications. [R]eCool is now commercially available for new trailer installations and as a retrofit for existing Vector® HE, Vector® and compatible third-party TRUs across Europe. Carrier Transicold is a part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.

A New Era in Cold Chain Energy

This lifecycle energy solution is designed to make TRU electrification simpler, more flexible and built to last. With a lifespan up to 16 years – longer than the typical service life of the trailer it powers – [R]eCool is engineered to remain productive across multiple vehicle phases and applications. The low-noise plug-in system enables fully electric or hybrid refrigeration, supporting diesel-free operation in low emission zones (LEZs) while preserving range needed for longer routes in hybrid mode. [R]eCool helps operators support compliance with urban access regulations while maintaining performance and reliability.

Powering Every Phase of a Fleet

  • [R]etrofit: Hybrid Cold Chain Solution – Electrify fleets immediately without replacing legacy units. Supports mixed fleets, including compatible third-party trailer units.
  • [R]un: Optimized Operations – Deliver high-capacity electric or hybrid performance with energy management that helps to significantly reduce fuel consumption and extend operating hours.
  • [R]edeploy: Extend and Protect Fleet Value – Transfer the battery across vehicles as fleet needs evolve, protecting long-term asset value.
  • [R]euse: Second Life Beyond Transport – Repurpose the battery for stationary energy applications, such as warehouse energy management, extending its productive life beyond the road.

"Tightening emissions regulations, rising fuel costs and growing pressure to decarbonize are putting enormous pressure on cold chain operators across Europe,” said Victor Calvo, Vice President & General Manager, International Truck Trailer, Carrier Transicold. “Most battery solutions solve one of those problems for one vehicle during one phase of its life. [R]eCool evolves with the fleet, from retrofit to redeployment to reuse, so operators invest once and capture value across multiple asset lifecycles. That's the shift our customers are asking for: electrification that doesn't expire when a trailer does." [R]eCool is built on power electronics and energy management technology from Addvolt, a Portuguese transport electrification company acquired by Carrier in 2025.

Supported for the Long Term

[R]eCool is supported by more than 800 Carrier Transicold service centers across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, ensuring expert support and operational continuity. Combined with Lynx Fleet for data-driven optimization and BluEdge service contracts for lifecycle support, it delivers long-term performance, reliability and efficiency.

It’s [R] Era. Together. For Life.

The commercial launch of [R]eCool marks the beginning of a new era in cold chain electrification built on strong collaboration, circularity and refusal to compromise between sustainability and performance. Carrier Transicold invites fleet operators to be part of this transition and to share their electrification journeys and the real-world impact of cleaner, smarter refrigeration.
