REP: IPP obtains “individual system” approval

The European specialist in the rental and sustainable management of wooden pallets, a subsidiary of Faber Group, has obtained approval as an individual system within the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme for Professional Packaging (PP). This recognition confirms the robustness of IPP’s circular model and its ability to independently fulfil all regulatory obligations of the sector.

As of 1 January 2027, buyers of wooden pallets will be required to join an eco‑organisation… unless they use IPP’s rental model. The decree of 6 July 2026, published in the Official Journal on 29 July, grants the company individual system status. This approval authorises IPP to directly handle all EPR obligations. It recognises brick‑brown pallets as assets belonging to the company and validates a circular model covering their entire lifecycle, from initial circulation to end‑of‑life recovery.

Eliminating EPR administrative procedures  

By obtaining this approval, IPP provides a clear advantage to manufacturers and major retail players. By choosing its rental model, they are exempt from all administrative procedures: no membership, no declarations, no tracking of flows, no eco‑contribution to pay. IPP assumes full responsibility for the regulatory EPR obligation. “Using IPP pallets means manufacturers do not need to join an eco‑organisation. They have nothing to pay, since we manage the entire EPR obligation,” explains Nathalie Lardy, Quality & Sustainability Manager at IPP France.

Operational management that reduces carbon footprint  

Beyond eliminating complex administrative procedures, IPP ensures the collection, repair and recirculation of wooden pallets from its service centres, following strict specifications that guarantee the quality of handling supports, which are essential for increasingly automated supply chains. The robustness of these pallets enables the company to achieve a reuse rate of 94%, reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 85% compared with the single‑use pallet model.

Since 2025, IPP has also been recognised as an individual system in Spain under a SIRAP (Sistemas Individuales de Responsabilidad Ampliada del Productor).
