As fuel prices continue to rise and operating costs come under increasing pressure, companies across the refrigerated transport industry are seeking proven solutions to help protect margins while maintaining performance and reliability. New comparative trials show that Carrier Transicold's Vector® trailer temperature-controlled units deliver significant fuel efficiency and savings. Tested on customer-owned assets, a methodology that reflects real-world operating conditions rather than controlled environments, the trials evaluated Carrier Transicold’s single-compartment Vector S 15 and Vector High Efficiency (HE) 17 systems. The results align with what fleet operators have reported in the field: Carrier Transicold’s units deliver lower fuel consumption without compromising on temperature performance – directly supporting operators’ sustainability objectives alongside their bottom line. Carrier Transicold is a part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.

In recent head-to-head tests conducted across a range of operating conditions, the Vector S 15 delivered more than 30% greater fuel efficiency in continuous operation and more than 20% in start/stop operation compared with an equivalent competitor unit, resulting in a direct reduction in fuel spend and emissions for real-world fleet operators. For higher-demand applications, the more powerful Vector HE 17 pushes those gains further, achieving up to 16% greater efficiency than the Vector S 15, as demonstrated in a separate trial, through advanced inverter technology that scales output to actual load demand.

“Escalating fuel prices are already driving purchasing decisions across the transport and logistics sector, and fleets are looking for proven answers, not promises,” said Scott Dargan, Senior Director & General Manager, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Carrier Transicold. “Our latest trial results confirm that Carrier Transicold’s units deliver measurable fuel savings at a time when every delivery and litre of fuel counts. This is just the starting point for us to further tailor our solutions, introducing customers to our latest cold chain technologies to further reduce fuel consumption, optimise fleet performance and maximise operational efficiency.”

The semi-electric Carrier Transicold Vector S 15 features a variable-speed engine design that delivers 15 kW of cooling capacity. By utilising advanced technology to provide high-capacity performance and optimised fuel economy, it delivers sustainability benefits, including the 30% fuel savings seen in the head-to-head tests.

Carrier Transicold’s Vector HE 17 features an electrically driven economised scroll compressor, combined with innovative inverter technology, to continuously adapt compressor speed and load to meet cooling demand. With the Vector HE 17, operators also gain strong performance when operating electrically, either when plugged into the grid at the depot or on the road via Carrier Transicold’s [R]eCool chassis-mounted battery pack.

“Single-compartment trailer units are the backbone of refrigerated transport across Europe, and now more than ever, operators need trusted, reliable and highly efficient technology in their fleets, something Carrier Transicold is proud to provide through its proven solutions,” said Dargan.

Beyond unit design, Carrier Transicold helps improve fuel efficiency through a broad portfolio of solutions, including solar panels to reduce engine load, BluEdge service agreements to proactively protect performance and manage costs, and Lynx Fleet for real-time monitoring and data-driven efficiency gains. For customers seeking to eliminate fuel consumption altogether, Carrier Transicold is also leading the transition toward fully electric cold chain solutions across its full vehicle range.
