Supplyweb installs a CVP Impack in its Démouville warehouse
E-commerce logistics expert Supplyweb has installed a 3D CVP Impack automatic packaging machine from the manufacturer Sparck Technologies in its fully automated 20,000 m2 warehouse located in Démouville, east of Caen (14). Thanks to this, it is able to automatically produce up to 500 packages per hour.
Since its creation in 2011, Supplyweb has continued to grow. During Covid-19, the Normandy company specializing in the outsourcing of logistics services for e-commerce SMEs doubled its turnover from 6 to 12 million euros. Growth which was confirmed in 2022 with a sales volume of 17 million euros. To absorb the ever-increasing influx of orders to be prepared from its customers, Supplyweb invested 12.5 million euros over two years in 2023 in a new fully automated logistics platform of 20,000 m2 located on the ZAC de la Delle du Closed, in Démouville, east of Caen. Among the state-of-the-art technologies selected, the logistics service provider installed the 3D packaging machine from the manufacturer Sparck Technologies. A choice explained by its director and founder Mathieu Desramé: “The installation of CVP Impack is part of a global project to automate our logistics flows. For the packaging part, at the end of the line, we chose Sparck Technologies technology because it allows us to increase productivity while having better flexibility for making shipping boxes. »
From 30 to 500 packages per hour
Result: when the logistician manually produced 30 packages per hour and per operator, thanks to the CVP Impack, Supplyweb now produces up to 500 automatically. In addition to the gain in productivity and working comfort for its employees, the Sparck Technologies machine allows Supplyweb to offer greater customization to its customers: packaging is made to measure, to the right size of the product or product. batch to be shipped. “We deal with a large quantity of heterogeneous goods every day: high-tech products, decoration, fashion accessories, etc. Having a solution that adapts flexibly to the different sizes of our customers’ products perfectly met our criteria,” explains Mathieu Desramé.
Customized packaging: a consumer expectation
Another argument which worked in favor of the CVP of Sparck Technologies, the ecological question. By making boxes of the right size, the wrapper eliminates voids and unnecessary cushioning materials, resulting in savings of up to 20% on the purchase of boxes. The smaller packages are more suited to an e-commerce activity and respond to the CSR issues that are increasingly important among Supplyweb's customers. “For 2 to 3 years, we have had high expectations from our customers on the issue of CSR. They are dictated by the end consumer who is increasingly sensitive to environmental issues, who no longer hesitates to post their dissatisfaction on social networks when the packaging is oversized compared to the product ordered. With the CVP, we provide a response to greater sobriety” analyzes the manager. Gains which also have an impact on transport costs since by using its technology Sparck Technologies estimates a reduction in shipping volumes of up to 50%. 7,000 packages are shipped every day from Supplyweb’s Caen warehouse.
