The specialist in ultra-fast charging solutions for heavy goods vehicles Chargepoly has signed a contract with the Ile-de-France family transport company Transports Prévost. The agreement provides for the installation of an electric charging station at the carrier's Mitry-Mory (77) headquarters, which will be powered in 2025 by photovoltaic panels.

To respond to climate challenges, Transports Prévost is banking on the energy mix. 80% of its fleet, mainly heavy goods vehicles, is now carbon-free thanks to alternative energies to diesel. By the end of the year, the family business is even aiming for 90%. A mix which consists of 60% B100 biofuel, 30% BioNGV and more recently electric energy with the acquisition of the first vehicles last year. “We currently have three tractors and a 19-tonne carrier. We are expecting five vehicles, which will bring our fleet to around ten electric trucks by the end of 2024,” underlines Aurélie Jami, administrative director of the Prévost Group.

Large-scale electrification of the Mitry-Mory site

To go further in electrification and anticipate the future needs of its customers - players in the automotive, industrial, pharmaceutical and luxury sectors - Transports Prévost has signed the order for a station ultra-fast electric charging from the specialist Chargepoly. Scheduled to be operational at the end of the month, it will be deployed on its Mitry-Mory site (Seine-et-Marne), the company's headquarters. The station consists of an installed power of 400kW (Power Unit) which can be intelligently distributed over 10 charging satellites (User Unit). This infrastructure will allow a heavy goods vehicle to be fully recharged in just over 1.5 hours. Once recharged, the trucks will circulate within a 300 km radius around the Paris region. In addition to providing the charging solution, the Chargepoly company supported Transports Prévost in the design phase of the station: sizing according to the route plan and the characteristics of the trucks, connection on the site, study of the turning radius, etc.

The choice of Made in France

After an in-depth study of the market, Transports Prévost finally turned to the Aix-based startup. Among the arguments that weighed in the balance, Made In France and common values. “There are a lot of installer-distributors on the charging station market. The fact that Chargepoly manufactures its solution in France is a guarantee of confidence for us. This is also in line with our values of favoring short circuits” testifies Alain Huguen, responsible for purchasing, overheads and security, in charge of the deployment of the IRVE (Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure) within Transports Prévost .

Complete management software

Another asset for the engineering company is its software. This allows vehicles to be recharged intelligently, by priority, based on the customer tours to be carried out and the most advantageous charging times. “Once the Chargepoly software is installed, we will quickly be able to do double shifts: go on tour in the morning, recharge at lunchtime and deliver again in the afternoon. We will thus depreciate our electric vehicles more quickly,” explains Aurélie Jami, administrative director of the Prévost Group.

Towards self-consumption of energy and even more affordable electricity

In the interest of self-consumption, Transports Prévost will install a solar power plant in 2025 on the 2,000 m2 roof of its technical workshops located 30 meters from the Chargepoly station. The photovoltaic panels will supply electricity to the station and all of the company's head office infrastructure, thus creating a virtuous circle environmentally and economically.

“Few companies in Ile-de-France are equipped with such a station. We are very proud of this project. It shows our commitment to the energy transition and electrification. The Chargepoly station will allow us to satisfy our customers and, we hope, win new markets” concludes Aurélie Jami.
